What can you expect?
I'll set aside extra time for your first acupuncture appointment so we can get to know each other. During this appointment, we'll conduct a comprehensive intake in my office, during a walk, or over lunch—whichever is most convenient for you. There's ample opportunity to discuss your situation: your current symptoms, what you'd like to change, and what you've already tried.
If you'd like, you can email me additional information beforehand. I can then review it at my leisure, and we can delve deeper into the core of your concerns during the intake.
After our consultation, I'll develop a personalized treatment plan for you within one to two days. I'll explain what I see in your pattern according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which approach suits it, and approximately how often I expect you. This way, you know what to expect and can participate in deciding the steps we take.
Then we begin the first acupuncture session. You'll lie comfortably on the treatment table, and I'll take the time to explain what I'm doing. The needles remain in place for about 30 minutes on average; many people experience this as a moment of peace and deep relaxation.
After the session, you can get up and go home. We'll schedule a follow-up appointment based on your diagnosis and treatment plan. At each session, we'll assess any changes in your symptoms and energy levels so we can adjust the treatment plan as needed.
